When I took over the Insight6 Sussex franchise in 2015, I was determined to make it a success. Both to support my young family and because I’ve always had the drive to build something for myself that I could be proud of. The franchisor offered good support, but ultimately, the day-to-day responsibility fell squarely on my shoulders.
Like many business owners, especially in the early days of working on my own, I faced a classic challenge: having no one to bounce ideas off. No one to challenge my thinking, question decisions, help me brainstorm, or provide structure. It was all down to me.
I’ve always been good at tracking my numbers, so I knew exactly where the business stood. But what I lacked was accountability, inspiration, and the structure that comes from having a trusted support network.
When I saw Martin, who I already knew and respected, launch a new business mastermind group called Jet Club, the timing felt right. One-to-one coaching wasn’t financially viable at that point, but Jet Club offered an affordable and powerful alternative.
It combined Martin’s Business Jet Engine tools, which brought structure and clarity to my business planning, with the energy and insight of a group of like-minded, ambitious peers. We worked through our plans, tackled challenges together, shared our highs and lows, and held each other accountable.
I joined at the very start of the group, in September 2018, and have been part of it ever since. Over time, the format evolved from 10 members to a tighter group of six. That’s given us the perfect mix of breadth and intimacy, a variety of expertise, and enough time and trust to go deep when needed. The relationships I’ve formed with the other Jet Club members transcend business. We trust each other implicitly. It feels so good to be part of something like that.
Jet Club has brought structure to my thinking and real momentum to the business. Using the Jet Engine tools, I’ve gained clarity on my business model, target clients, financial goals, and how to move from ambition to action, with clear, manageable steps throughout the year.
Whenever key opportunities or challenges have come up, like delegating duties to enable business growth or expanding into the Surrey territory, I’ve been able to talk them through with the group. That input has helped me avoid costly mistakes and make confident, informed decisions.
Since joining Jet Club, I’ve become the top-performing franchisee in the Insight6 network and now train and support others in the franchise.
My turnover is up 25%, but more importantly, it’s how I create that. I have a significantly higher proportion of long-term retained clients and a more lean, efficient and profitable business than ever.
Jet Club is more than just a business tool, it’s become an essential part of how I run my business. The support, accountability and structure it offers have been invaluable. And beyond that, the friendships we’ve built have created a safe, supportive space to tackle the hard stuff and celebrate the wins together!
